The Basics of Cloud Computing

Now As the Cloud Computing Race is started very fast in India, we are seeing a whole lot of buzz around the corner.  Recently Six North East Indian Universities added the Cloud Computing and Mobile Technology Curriculum to there academic Courses, which is basically an initiative by the Software Giant Microsoft with is Windows Azure Platform . The inclusion of Study Material, Research and Development for this emmerging Technology is a big boost to the youth of India ,to harness its potentials and prepare themseleves for the future Prospects.

For the reason of Study and Research I am writing this article on a very specific and brief in What exactly is Cloud Computing, and What are the diffrent Models and Concept.

What is a Cloud Computing?

In a Basic Sense the Cloud Computing is the Information Services which can be consumed and delivered by the Internet, with on – demand scalibility and Vitualization of Services. Five of the Properties that can be seen in aCloud based Services, which are as follows:

  1. Dedicated Services – On-Demand Services
  2. Broad Network Access
  3. Resource Pooling (Location Pooling)
  4. Scale-able on Demand
  5. Metered Services – Pay for Services used

What are the Different Models of Cloud Computing ?

There are 3 Diffrent Models of Cloud Computing.

  • 1. SAAS Model – Software as a Service – Complete Organization Service Salesforce.com,ZOHO CRM, Microsoft CRM
  • 2. PAAS Model – Platform as a Service – Windows Azure, Google Apps
  • 3. IAAS Model – Infrastructure as a Service. (Metered Service) Amazon EC2.

Out of all these Services Windows Azure and Google Apps are more generic and mostly targetted to the Public domain. The beauty of these services is that they have a great branding and as well as the best service. With these two services one can mplement all the three types of Cloud Computing models.
Like Windows Azure is regarded as the PAAS model but it also affording the IAAS model with the metered services, which means you can Pay as you go with the service, and no Commitment is required for that. Check out the Details here (http://www.windowsazure.com/en-us/offers/ms-azr-0003p)
